01 Signing up for Trial Study in Huijia
Among the crowds signing up for the trial study in Huijia, we saw a lot of new students. Huijia to them is an unfamiliar yet interesting new place where their new exploration is about to begin and a totally different way of learning is waiting ahead.
In order to help the children to adapt to the study in Huijia, the school specially arranged a two-day trial study to allow the new students to understand in advance what the IB curriculum system, class atmosphere and the learning/teaching style are like in Huijia.
After the trial, every child is full of expectations for the upcoming formal study in the school.
‘I hope all the future courses can be so interesting, all the teachers are super nice!’
‘I was nervous before I came as I didn’t know how the class would be like. But it turned out to be much more interesting than I had thought.’
Surely, more surprises are on the way.
02 Opening Ceremony of the New School Year
At this year’s opening ceremony, the school’s headmaster summarized the achievements made over the last school year and presented awards to the students with outstanding performance.
In Huijia, the definition of excellence is not simply based on students’ academic performance. Those who are brave in exploring and taking actions are also appreciated and encouraged.
Whether it is the outstanding academic achievements with 7+ across all disciplines, the award wining performance in art and sports competitions, or innovation made in CTB and USAD, we believe what is behind them is the solid personality and is worth learning for every student.
At the same time, the headmaster also shared some of the plans for the new school year.
The school will spare no effort in supporting Chinese and English reading projects and create a better atmosphere for English learning and application. The school will continue to work with Microsoft in setting up the Microsoft Flagship School and further implement courses in relation to Coding, STEAM and Computer Science. Additionally, the school will also promote the implementation of a new management system including Service Action and Community Project.
The continuous progress of the school requires every student to be actively prepared for the change with the most positive attitude, seizing the opportunity and embracing the challenge.
03 Message of the New School Year
On the registration day, at the opening ceremony and along the boulevard of the school campus, we are impressed by all these young and fresh faces that are full of vigor and the spirit of youth.
We interviewed a number of people randomly, including teachers who have been teaching in Huijia for many years, children who have just been enrolled and students who have just entered junior or senior high school, facing a new stage of life. Here are some of the messages of the new school year, which they kindly shared with us.
‘In the new term I will meet a lot of new classmates and new teachers. As I have now left Grade 5 and stepped in Grade 6 which I am not familiar with yet, I think I should work hard in getting rid of all my bad habits such as talking in class and jumping the stairs… I also look forward to the trip to Australia… and for my English, I hope that I can improve my English in the new term and strive for A in every unit test.
-- Tang yizhou from the 6th Grade
‘Now I am in the last year of junior high school, I hope I will maintain my warm, passionate and pure heart to embrace the challenges of each day. I will not be afraid of mistakes and failure, as people who have their own thoughts and dare to go against the current, will always stand out.’
-- Dong Lili from the 8th Grade
‘My biggest regret over the past two years is that I have never been in the honor society. I didn't work hard enough and every year I lost the chance due to the unsatisfactory results (less than 6 points) in one or two subjects. I hope in the new school year, I can change my bad habit: getting stuck in the homework rush shortly before the deadline.’
--Wang Jiaoke from the 8th Grade
‘In the new term, I will try to learn 50 new English words everyday, read more and be more self-disciplined. Furthermore, I need to improve my self-care and self-control ability, do more physical exercise, do not put off till tomorrow what should be done today and try to be independent when solving problems. I hope I will soon adapt to the study and life in Huijia.’
--Jia Licheng, a new student from the 9th Grade
‘Try out school teams, try best to catch up with my Chinese.’
--Li Hongtai, a new student from the 9th Grade
‘In the new term, we will host a real TEDx talk in Huijia, hopefully we will leave something that is groundbreaking for the school.’
--Su Hang from the 12th Grade
‘This is my last year in Huijia and I need to learn to be responsible for myself and try to get out of my comfort zone. It is the time for us to work hard, turning a shotgun into a cannon!’
--Wu Yuxuan from the 12th Grade
‘A crane soars through the clouds to the blue autumn sky, autumn can be brighter than the spring prime. I hope every student could set high and noble ambition, prepare themselves to be the future mainstay of the country and study hard for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, for opening up the gate to the world and for a better future of China.’
--Teacher Yan from the primary school section
‘Another school season is coming and we see the familiar campus and familiar faces again without realizing that growth and change is taking place quietly to everyone. In the new term, we should work harder with higher goals, practice with more solid steps to carryout the mission statements of the IB. Let’s strive to be more diligent, more knowledgeable and more caring… Hope we will meet better selves in the next year.
--Teacher Lu from the primary school section
“Welcome to Huijia. Here, excellence is a habit. Each student cultivates good habits and collaborates with others.
The gate of a magic place at the Dragon and Phoenix Mountains opens for you. You are becoming part of a powerful community of learners.
Green Dragons forever!”
-- Antonio Flores M.Ed, Course Director
Just like them, every teacher and student in Huijia has his/her own expectations and in the new school year, everyone will put the feet down to the ground, working hard to chase these dreams.
Finally, let’s end with the headmaster’s words in the opening ceremony speech and express our most sincere wishes to every member of Huijia School.
‘Rather than sinking into the past or fantasizing about future, we should cherish today, as it is the best gift from God! I wish every teacher and every student can grasp the present and create a bright future with your wisdom and diligence!’
